If you are looking for a dobermann puppy, please do not rush! A breeder who cares about the breed will have done health testing and used a stud who is also fully health tested. Hip and elbow dysplasia, thyroid, and participate in the heart study program if they are within distance to U of Guelph. These are the basics. A responsible breeder will also crop the ears and not leave a new puppy home to do this themselves. We keep our puppies with us until the stitches are removed (at 7 to 10 days) and make sure there is no infection. Our puppies will have had their tails docked and dew claws removed. We do not sell undocked puppies.
Our puppies leave our home and start off with their new family with 6 weeks of free pet insurance. They are health checked by a veterinarian and provided all their puppy vaccines on a schedule appropriate for their age. We ask that prospective new families fill out a questionnaire and then meet us and our dogs. If you are within driving distance, we like to meet your family and introduce you to ours. If distance is too far, we may ask that you meet with someone that we trust, that can help give us peace of mind that you are a suitable home for a doberman puppy. We also require all new owners agree, in writing, to return the puppy at any age to us if they can no longer keep the dog for whatever reason. This is not negotiable. Ear Cropping is performed before the puppy leaves to their new home (see above). However, the buyer is responsible for the upkeep of the ears, and posting them until they stand. We will do ear posting at no cost to you, and love to see our pups back here for that. However, if distance or time limits you from coming here then we can help you in either finding someone close by to help post or show you how to do it and provide instructions. **If you are not going to follow the basic steps for posting, please think long and hard about whether you want a cropped doberman. **
